Education

"Education is the foundation of a fair and thriving society — and I’ll fight for a system that works for everyone."

As a GP and a mum, I’ve seen how access to early learning, quality schools, and affordable higher education shapes people’s lives. We need to treat education as an investment — not a cost to be cut.

My plan for a better education system

  • Make childcare more affordable and accessible — and ensure workers are paid fairly.
  • Provide three days a week of childcare free.
  • Boost public school funding so every child has a safe, well-equipped learning environment and smaller class sizes.
    • Implement the Gonski Review recommendations and deliver fairer funding for all school students. Let's not shelve them for another decade.
  • Invest in vocational training and STEM to prepare students for future industries.
  • Reinvigorate and properly fund the TAFE system to ensure high-quality and well-supported education.
  • Reduce university fees and HECS-HELP debt by reinstating Commonwealth funding for students and review University funding models so they are not as reliant on international students.
  • Increase funding for university research and streamline research grant award processes.

Sturt is a highly educated community — and we know that opportunity starts with education. Let’s make sure every student, from preschool to high school, from certificate to PhD, gets the support they deserve.
