Why I'm running

Why I'm standing as an Independent

After several discussions and listening and reflecting, I decided to step forward as the candidate for Independent for Sturt. I’m not a career politician, but I do believe in the power of community to create real, meaningful change. I’ve spent many years living and working right here in Sturt, engaging with our community, and understanding the challenges you face. I’ve been listening to your concerns, your hopes, and your dreams for the future.

The more I listened, the more I realised that our community needs someone who isn’t beholden to political parties or special interests. We need someone who will stand up for us, not the system. Someone who can bring practical, evidence-based solutions to the table - solutions that are designed with you in mind, not party agendas.

Free from party politics - I’ll focus on our community

I’m not tied to any political party. This means I’m free to focus on what really matters; practical solutions.  I’m committed to being transparent, accountable to you, and inclusive - values that I know people in our community are looking for.

I bring a fresh perspective. I want to bring people together, to find common ground and practical policies and programs that deliver for us.

Our democracy, like our country, is something to be proud of. It’s always up to us to demand the best from it. Independent candidates restore trust in the political process by building real connections between voters and their representatives. We have seen what happens in other countries when people get left behind or lose trust in the system.

We don't want that in Australia.

Restoring Trust: Transparency and Accountability in Government

I want to make government more transparent by ensuring the public has access to key information about political decision-making and by holding leaders accountable for their actions. It’s also crucial to put measures in place that prevent conflicts of interest when politicians move to other sectors.

I believe public funds should always be used responsibly, supporting projects that are well thought-out and beneficial to the community. Taxpayer money should never be used for political gain or short-term promises. My focus is on making decisions based on what truly serves the people, not political agendas.

That’s why I’m standing for Sturt. I want to be the independent voice we deserve in Canberra, to join the other Independents who are asking the questions that need to be asked and holding our politicians to account.

My commitment to you

If elected as a community independent, I promise to listen to you first. This means:

  • Holding regular town hall meetings
  • Hosting meetings and forums with community members
  • Hosting small businesses Round Tables
  • Maintaining my office in the electorate - open door policy
  • Regular surveys on key issues to understand what matters to you
  • Meeting with a diversity of people in community
  • Responding quickly to your emails and letters.

On a personal level I pledge to:

  • Focus on evidence based solutions
  • Act with integrity and honesty
  • Empower others to make informed decisions
  • Strive to earn the trust and respect of the community

Independent representation means I can work with whichever government is elected to deliver the best outcomes for our community, free from party politics and focused on you.

As your Independent MP, I’ll be a strong and effective voice for Sturt, standing up for the issues that matter most to us and holding government to account.
